Does Consumption Of Valprol Lead To Weight Gain?
Valprol CR does not have steroids.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Ms XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your diagnosis and medications.
Valprol CR (sodium valproate) is a good anti-epileptic drug and is reasonably safe.
It does not contain steroids, however, it does lead to weight gain in some people. Most of the weight gain occurs because of increased intake of food and lesser exercise.
Also, why did you take Syndopa? Syndopa is used to treat Parkinson's disease and not epilepsy.
I hope my reply has helped you.
I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
Best wishes,

i think this was the reason i was asked to take syndopa.
What do you have to say about it?
Now a days, i get seizures in morning for few seconds in just left leg of my body,(it gets numbness). I think its because of my irregular sleeping habits.
What do you have to say about it?
Your seizure medications need adjustment.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more details.
Shivering (tremors) are known side effects of valprol CR. If they are troublesome, you may take beta blockers such as propranolol, rather than syndopa.
Your morning seizures are suggestive of partial sensory seizures. These respond better to carbamazepine or oxcarbazepine. If these seizures continue, it may be better to put you on either of these, rather than valprol CR. This is especially, as valprol CR may have side effects on periods, ovaries and pregnancy later on.
Good sleep is important to reduce seizures.
