Question: Dear Doctor ,
I am a 26 years old XXXXXXX male who has been masturbating since 13. Sometimes it would be 2 times a day , sometimes it would be 4 times a day. At the age of 19 I remember that I was able to have a good erection for sexual intercourse , even though I continued to masturbate a lot. But now I have noticed that my erection is weak not only when I am doing it with a human being , but also when I am trying to masturbate . I decided to reduce masturbation to 1 time per two days . I thought I my penis would get firmer but instead it became even weaker. What could that possible be ? Does that mean that I masturbated a lot and it now is taking its toll on my erection?

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you are facing problem of Erectile Dysfunction since couple of months .

You have been indulged in frequent and habitual masturbation since a long time which is one of the prime factor for your problem of ED.

It is appreciable that you have determined to reduce it substantially. Make it to once or twice a week which will definitely help you to regain your sexual potency though it may take a year or two .Following measure will help you to boost up your confidence and getting good erection.
1) Practice regular exercise for 45 minutes followed by meditation for 1/2 an hour in the morning.
2) Take high protein diet rich in vegetables and fruits and Vitamin A,C,D,E.and Zinc
3)Take anti oxidants like Almonds 5-6 everyday
4) Avoid alcohol and smoking..
5)Avoid watching porn videos

Try to reduce the frequency of masturbation by keeping yourself busy in activities like sports ,reading ,social work etc so that you will not get free time to masturbate.

Thank you for the speedy reply.

I dont smoke (never smoked), almost dont drink (1-2 glasses of wine a week) and have been working out since 21. I am in a pretty good shape, not fat. I always eat healthy food like the thing you suggested. Never had any trauma or anything like that - what could directly affect my performace.

Some questions;
- Does it really take 1 or 2 years to regain potency? isnt it too late for me? (I just turned 26)
- Why is my penis still weak even without two or three days of masturbation? My friends told me that one they dont masturbate for 3 days - they already have it hard.
- Are there any side effects of reducing masturbation so drastically from 3 times a week to 1 per 3 days (I noticed that I had difficulty in sleeping and some anxiety). How will organism react to such a drastic change?
- I understand that its better to masturbate once or twice a week. But about actual sex with people? During sex I can also masturbate, for example, to achieve ejacylation or do mutual masturbation with my partner (which is common among gays).
- What vitamins in particular would you recommend - so I could go to the chemist and buy them? today I saw these Vitamins Blackmore -Male Performance but I was not sure whether they would help in my case.
- Can sometimes I use viagra (i used only 1/4 of the tablet - but it helped me significantly) or better not do that?
- can you explain to me a bit in a more detail - why a male penis suffers from excessive masturbation? Isnt masturbation supposed to keep penis in good shape?
- Is it a common problem at all? (the one I described)
