Does Hibiclens And Mupirocin Help In Treating Rash On Stomach?

Question: I am obese and this rash is kinda under my stomach area. should I use hibiclens soap & I also have mupirocin ointment. would those things help? what is the rash called. I can try and get a better pic but it would be hard. can u tell by this. the rash area is a little larger.

I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it. I have looked at the Image.

In the image I could see pus-filled bumps. It is Bacterial Folliculitis/Infection of the hair follicle.

Since there are multiple lesions, therefore the best way to approach is to start an empirical oral antibiotic for a week OR 10 days (My choice of oral antibiotic would have been Amoxycillin 500mg in combination with clavulanic acid 125 mg, thrice daily, for a week OR Cephalexin 500mg thrice daily OR Cefadroxil 500mg twice daily, for a week). This would take care of the bacterial infection/folliculitis.

An OTC antibacterial ointment e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, can be applied twice daily.

If I was the treating doctor I would have liked to get your blood sugar level checked.

thank you so much for your help. is this due to sweating? hygiene? obesity? I have this rash in 2 different areas & both areas have over hanging skin which can have much moisture on hot days. I have had a similar rash before but never with this pus filled bumps. its scares me very much. my dr called in Cefadroxil and I am picking that up on my way home. Please let me know about the questions I asked & thank you again for your help it is much appreciated.

Hi.

Of course, sweat getting trapped between body folds would have encouraged infection. Obesity can lead to impaired glucose tolerance and thus predisposes to infections.

Cefadroxil 500mg twice daily for a week, would be fine for folliculitis along with topical mupirocin cream
