Brief Answer:
Your thyroid is controlled

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

It seems that the ayurvedic medicine is working for you and thyroid is well controlled. Maybe it has decreased the auto-antibodies.

1. What are the complications of hypothyroidism? It can cause symptoms like tired XXXXXXX fatigue, weight gain, muscle loss, heart problems, nerve problems, infertility, muscle aches, skin and hair problems, constipation, poor memory myxedema coma.

2. Does it worsen over time? It depends on the cause of hypothyroidism. When antibodies are involved, it can worsen with time.

3. How likely am I of getting diabetes knowing the fact that I do not have a family history of either of my parent. If auto-immunity is involved, then diabetes may happen as well. If your ayurvedic medicines suppressing auto-immunity then less chances of developing diabetes.

4. I will get married in 2 months. Will it affect my fertility. Only 0.8% chance of infertility in hypothyroidism. Your thyroid levels are in control.

5. I work out regularly since 1.5 years but I am unable to gain muscle mass. I have a lean posture. is it directly related to hypothyroidism. What should I do to gain muscle mass.
Lean body mass not due to hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism causes weight gain. Lean posture is good. You can have cleaner water from RO system to avoid infections. Also take extra diet, more calories.

6. How does hypothyroid affect metabolism. explain in detail.
Hypothyroidism lowers the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

7. Doctor said my TSH readings are not very high. Does is mean I have a milder hypothyroidism.
If you dont have clinical symptoms of weakness etc, then its subclinical hypothyroidism. If you have some symptoms then its mild.

8. My readings are normal since 1 year without medications. Dose it mean that my condition is about to cure.
yes but keep checking every 6 months or more frequently according to symptoms.

Hope it helps

Thanks for your Reply. I have few more questions.
I have mentioned my LDL and ESR readings in my previous questions. Please comment on that. My ESR is in the range of 20-23. Are LDL readings normal. It was 135 (Normal Range 90-180) in my previous reports.

1. I haven't taken thyroid medication(allopathy) since 2013 (4 years from now). Should i start or no? Because Ayurveda and Endocrinologist have opposite opinion.
I do not want to rely on any medicine for life long. I am just 28 year old.

2. Does Hypothyroidism have a permanent cure know the fact that i have it because of auto immunity from my TPO test.

3. I do have any thyroid symptoms from the start. I do not have constipation. I only comes occasionally when i change my eating pattern or if i eat outside food. I only get tired at evening or at night. Can you explain what is tiredness or fatigue that you've mentioned in your answer.

4. You said diabetes can happen. Can you tell me what are the chances of diabetes due to my medical condition? I do not have any family history.

5. Does allopathy medications suppress auto-Immunity? Which is a better alternative ayurveda or allopathy for permanent cure without medicines?

6. You mentioned thyroid affects metabolism of proteins, carbs, fats. What should i do to maintain it. I take isolated whey proteins 25g daily after workout. Will it affect my health knowing that hypothyroidism affects protein metabolism.

7. Will any type of infection worsen my auto immunity condition?. I take antobiotic dose once a year if i get throat infection. Will that affect me in any way or my medical condition?

Brief Answer:
Best is to manage any medical condition with lifestyle.

Detailed Answer:
I have mentioned my LDL and ESR readings in my previous questions. Please comment on that. My ESR is in the range of 20-23. Are LDL readings normal. It was 135 (Normal Range 90-180) in my previous reports.

--Could not find your previous reports. But from information provided, ESR is normal and LDL is also little above normal. Nothing to worry. No need of medicines to lower LDL. Avoiding fatty foods and regular exercise will help.

1. I haven't taken thyroid medication(allopathy) since 2013 (4 years from now). Should i start or no? Because Ayurveda and Endocrinologist have opposite opinion.
I do not want to rely on any medicine for life long. I am just 28 year old.

--Since your thyroid levels are normal, there is no need of thyroid supplement currently. But keep a regular check on thyroid levels.

2. Does Hypothyroidism have a permanent cure know the fact that i have it because of auto immunity from my TPO test.

--In some cases, hypothyroidism does reverse itself for example hypothyroidism diagnosed during pregnancy maybe normal after pregnancy. In cases of autoimmunity, it depends on your lifestyle.

3. I do have any thyroid symptoms from the start. I do not have constipation. I only comes occasionally when i change my eating pattern or if i eat outside food. I only get tired at evening or at night. Can you explain what is tiredness or fatigue that you've mentioned in your answer.

--In fatigue due to medical conditions like hypothyroidism, fatigue/weakness is felt even after smallest exertion, most times of the day.

4. You said diabetes can happen. Can you tell me what are the chances of diabetes due to my medical condition? I do not have any family history.

--Research says that around 5 people from every 200 autoimmune hypothyroidism patients may develop diabetes.

5. Does allopathy medications suppress auto-Immunity? Which is a better alternative ayurveda or allopathy for permanent cure without medicines?

--In allopathy, medicines like steroids and other immunosuppressants like methotrexate are used to suppress autoimmunity. Since you are already taking ayurveda, you may continue ayurveda until its successful. Whenever its not effective you can simply take thyroid supplements. In worst cases, allopathic immunosuppressants will be recommended as they have more side effects.
Just to add, ayurvedic medicines also sometimes have side effects especially if used continuously for prolonged periods. Watch out for them.

6. You mentioned thyroid affects metabolism of proteins, carbs, fats. What should i do to maintain it. I take isolated whey proteins 25g daily after workout. Will it affect my health knowing that hypothyroidism affects protein metabolism.

--No whey protein will not affect your health during hypothyroid episodes. Metabolism is the process by which fats, proteins and carbohydrates are burnt down to generate energy. During hypothyroidism fat accumulates in body and other metabolism also slows down leading to weight increase and fatigue. Currently your thyroid levels are normal, so metabolism is not affected.

7. Will any type of infection worsen my auto immunity condition?. I take antobiotic dose once a year if i get throat infection. Will that affect me in any way or my medical condition?

--Yes infections can trigger and worsen autoimmunity. Any type of germ can be responsible. Its ok to take antibiotics once a year but antibiotics are not generally prescribed for a common cold.

8. I have measured body fat at gym it is 21.5%. it is ideal or i should reduce it?

---its ideal for men. For competitive body builders, body fat of 5-10% is ideal. In your case there is no need to reduce it.
BMI - 21.4

---its normal
Basal Metabolic Rate - 1508Kcal
Skeletal Muscle mass - 29.4
Weight - 67kg
height 177cm
Please comment on above in-body analysis.

Normal body analysis.

I feel that worry does more damage than the disease. Its better to live life as it comes. Yogic breathing techniques can be helpful in allaying anxiety and throwing out the toxins.

Thank you doctor for you advice. I am quiet amused you found out that I am anxious, because that is very true. I have anxiety related to my health. I get worried very fast.

I forgot to tell in my previous questions. I smoked for 5 years 2-3 cigarettes a day. Now I have stopped. But I do smoke (1-2 cigarettes a month) occasionally with friends. And I take drinks (Mostly beer and occasionally hard drinks) twice or thrice a month is small quantities. I do not have addiction.

I still need clarification about few of the above questions.

Well, I felt good to know that chances of diabetes are not high as I thought.

2. You said hypothyroidism can reverse if if happens due to pregnancy. Dose it mean it cannot reverse when it happens because of auto-immunity. Does it mean I only have to control it.

Brief Answer:
Auto immunity is reversible

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Contrary to popular belief auto immunity can be reversed if the causative agent is eradicated.

For example if its an infectious agent or a medicine that is triggering auto immunity then it may reverse when trigger is removed. Lifestyle plays a big role in controlling the trigger. Healthy lifestyle is helpful in long run.

Also alcohol and smoke should be recognised as bad habit and be stopped right away.

Thanks for you answer.

How can I find what triggers auto-immunity. I am unable to understand its cause.

How does alcohol damage health even if it is consumed in small quantities?
I have certainly stopped smoking.

Regarding Lifestyle, what should i follow? What is the right lifestyle. Everyone attributes chronic illness to lifestyle. But no one knows what is the right lifestyle. All give vague answers. Can you elaborate?

Brief Answer:
Autoimmunity is still a puzzle

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Determinants of autoimmunity are genes, chemicals, and non chemicals like repeated infections, environmental factors, etc. So there is no sure method to determine it.
You may repeat the test to confirm if the antibody is still there or not.

In autoimmunity I would suggest the following measures to prevent it:
- Get vaccinated for all the common infections especially the viral infections.
- Drink cleaner water and hygienic food to avoid food-borne infections
- Avoid any outside chemicals like medications, alcohol, pesticides, etc. Only take important and relevant medicines
- There is no need to freak out at each and every infection or chemical exposure. It is ok to get the common cold or flu. Most of them will only build your immunity. Only some of then will trigger auto-immunity. Moreover worry is itself a trigger.

Since you are healthy and doing fine, you may move on with your life thinking that you do not have the disease. In future if some symptom shows up, then take treatment accordingly.
