Does Intake Of Abilify Help In Treating Bipolar Disorder?

Question : Hi, I am 60 years old. 8 years ago I had an manic episode. Bipolar? Had another episode last year. Testing came back in 2012 stress disorder not bipolar. Never felt depressed. I was seen by a neurologist for 2 years in my 40s. White matter ? White blood cell count low 2.4-3.4 always. Can't past neurotical test. Spinal tap came back normal. Taking half dose of ambilify, presently heavy stressors no problems. Being retested again for bipolar? Stress disorder? Should I seek medical help as well as physiological help?

Thanks for writing to us. I can understand your concern.

One episode of mania in lifetime confirms diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Please let me know details of symptoms you had in past as well as current symptoms. To diagnose any Psychiatric disorder detail mental status examination should be done in person by a psychiatrist.

There is no diagnosis like stress disorder. Acute stress disorder and post traumatic stress disorder are there. It is possible that stress related disorder and bipolar disorder coexist.

I strongly recommend consulting psychiatrist for your diagnosis.

Also upload your blood and imaging brain reports if you have.

What mg of abilify are you taking and since when?

WBC 2.4-3.4 is not at all normal and you need to consult internal medicine specialist.
