Question: Hello...I was wondering if I could take 1 50 mg imitrex with 2 aleve tablets to relieve a migraine headache..I heard that you can maybe, but I'm not really sure if it is safe...I already took 2 aleve and not helping much...can I take 1 50 mg Imitrex, also? Thank you XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Take treatment as advised, visit a neurologist
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
For acute attacks aleve 500 mg can be taken and repeated if needed after 2-4 hours.
Imitrex 50 mg can also be taken with it to abort the attacks and repeated after 2 hours to a maximum dose of 200 mg in 24 hours.
Complete improvement may take a day or two in some cases.
Rest, sleep, avoiding bright lights and noise will help in recovery.
Wishing you good health and early recovery.
