Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your problem as it is very common in second trimester of pregnancy.
You can take looz syrup at night for 4-5 days to relieve the severe constipation and thus give time for healing of fissure.
But it should only be used for short term use as it at times causes tolerance and even loose stools.
So take care of following points -
- drink a lot of water
- take lukewarm water 2 glasses in morning
- avoid calcium intake for 5-7 days in days of severe constipation
- take a lot of fresh fruits and salads daily
For fissures take ointment osil (calcium dobesilate) for application twice a day till healing, but since it is a prescription drug visit your gynaecologist for examination and prescription.
Take care.

But i was having constipation before i started taking calcium supplement. ..i mean it has been stated around one month ago. Will stopping calcium help in constipation??
Also will this ointment help in reducing the pain and irritation in skin tag?

Answered by Dr. Manisha Jain (2 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Yes both these will help

Detailed Answer:
Yes dear the ointment is for reducing pain and inflammation and thus size of the pile.
Constipation is a part and parcel of pregnancy because progesterone causes slowing of intestinal movements.
Calcium has a similar effect so it worsens constipation.
So during days of severe constipation leaving calcium for a few days helps in relieving it.
Take care.

Brief Answer:
Stop it now itself

Detailed Answer:
Yes dear, it is a progesterone tablet and thus is contributing to your problem so you can very well stop it as there is no need.
I usually stop progesterone after 16 weeks and thus no harm to you or baby.
Stoppjng it will help to relieve constipation to some extent.
All the best

One last question doctor....i want to opt for painless delivery. I want to know the side effects of epidural. Is there any other way also available than epidural?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Manisha Jain (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Epidural is usually very effective

Detailed Answer:
Epidural is the only way dear and is quite effective in the hands of a good anaesthetist.
Usually epidural delivery goes uncomplicated except in some patients where there can be slight prolongation of the labour duration and at times there occurs retention of urine during labour or after delivery.
But most of the times patient stays very comfortable and everything goes well.
All the best and in case you have any questions in future please feel free to contact me directly on this forum and I will be glad to answer.
