Zalasta is the trade name for a medication called olanzapine.

It is an antipsychotic medication that is used mainly in schizophrenia . It is also used to treat the mania part of bipolar disorder (when persons get depression and then mania or vice versa)

Schizophrenia is a condition where there may be abnormal thoughts, emotions or behaviour. There may be problems with hallucinations or delusions in some persons.

Mania can be effectively treated however though may still recur.

It can take a few weeks (2 to 3) in some cases, for improvement to occur
