Does Intake Of Omeprazole Have An Effect On Insulin Secretion?
I would like to try a reduction in Omeprezole to see if it also can reduce my weight gain. Do you approve of this and if so how should i go about this reduction. Should I try cold turkey and if so what if a little regurgitation occurs? Do you have another suggestion?
My advice is to talk with a gastroenterologist about omeprazole.

Hi dear user
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
Omeprazole is a drug used as short-term treatment for various ulcer diseases and conditions like esophageal regurgitation and heart burn.
According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, less than 1 percent of patients who use omeprazole in some form experience weight gain as a side effect. The type of weight gain varies amongst individuals, from moderate to severe and may or may not warrant medical attention.
However there is no approved fact that suggest omeprazole increase the secretion of insulin secretion. So in my opinion omeprazole is not the cause of your weight gain, but probably hiperinsulinemia is the culpit.
I suggest to see a gastroenterologist in your area and to discus with him the possibility of reducing or stopping omeprazole therapy and to see if with the time it is the culprit of your weight gain. It is also necessary to meet an endocrinologist and to do some test like insulinemia. Because it is very important to find the real cause of your hypoglicemia and only if you find the cause you can have the right treatment.
Hope I have answered to your questions.
Thank you for using HCM.
Wish you good health.
Start with cinnamon powder in your food than try the natyral supplements.

Hi dear user
In modern naturopathic medicine, practitioners regard cinnamon as a natural treatment for gastrointestinal (GI) upset, diarrhea, and chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol.Cinnamon bark also contains a chemical that might work like insulin to lower blood sugar so you must be prudent because it can promote or aggravate your hypoglicemic episodes.
Although there is only limited evidence to support the use of cinnamon bark supplements, these products may be a helpful in addition to a healthy lifestyle.
There are a lot af natyral dietary suplements that contain Cinnamon for example Nature's Bounty Cinnamon Dietary Supplement Capsules ,Botanic Choice Cinnamon Herbal Supplement Capsules etc but you can use even Cinnamon Bark Oil,cinnamon black tea or cinnamon stick tea.You can easily find a lot other supplements names(internet), if you decide to buy one.
Anyway my advice is to consult your doctor or dietitian before using cinnamon bark supplements.
Hope i have answered to your question.
