Does Intake Of Tolterodine Help In Treating Painful Urinary Retention?
Question: I am having a burning sensation when I urinate and a fullness in my bladder. Feel as if I should be
releasing more urine when I'm in the bathroom but I have a weak stream and I feel enough is not coming out. Went to a doctor today and he tested me for a UTI. The results were negative, but he perscribed a drug called tolterodine to relieve my systems. I'm concerned about starting this drug as it appears to be a drug for overactive bladder. Not sure this is what I have. Was trying to diagnose myself before I take something that might make matters worse.

Brief Answer:
For how long has this been going on?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about frequent urination in small quantities. I have reviewed your information fully and this is suggestive of a possible infection. If this has been going on just for a very short time, then I will like to first manage this as a possible urine tract infection. I will consider managing as overreactive bladder if all efforts to investigate and manage as UTI fail or this has been going on for a pretty long time. Let me know what the exact timeline has been.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask of more information and clarifications if need be.
