Does Intake Of Tums And Mylanta Help In Curing Heartburn?

default
Posted on Thu, 10 Mar 2016
Question: I am having what I think is heartburn. It woke me up out of sleep. I took tums and Mylanta for it this has not helped the symptoms at all. Is it possible this is not heartburn at all, but something else. I have no problems breathing and no other pain.

Brief Answer:
Do not take chance at home

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

TUMS and MYLANTA does well with heart burn. If the heart burn is not resolved it has to be addressed with some other possibilities.
It may be heart burn which gets aggravated with anxiety about heart attack and it does not resolve with TUMS/MYLANTA. It may need antianxiety to relieve the attack.
Even if you do not have problems with breathing and other pain I would not advise you to stay at home, go to urgent clinic. They may not find anything significant but it is worth seeking help. Unless the worst is ruled out do not sit at home.
