Does Low Rising HCG Numbers Indicate Miscarriage?
What does it mean if hcg initially doubled fine but then slowed down? Ultrasound still showed baby with hearbeat
hi and welcome to hcm
Detailed Answer:
Hcg is a hormone that is produced in pregnancy by fetus and placenta. It increases gradually during pregnancy and it is used as a marker for pregnancy following up. There is expected dynamic of hcg increase in normal pregnancy. Any abnormality in hcg levels can indicate some pathology, not just miscarriage, but also fetal growth disorders, placental blood flow disorder etc. Some small hcg variations can be seen in normal pregnancies so it should not be the only factor in pregnancy follow up. Especially if heart beats and ultrasound are normal. I suggest to have hope and follow doctors instructions. Repeat ultrasound and hcg frequently and when there is 100% that pregnancy is over then further procedures can be done
