Does Oxycodone Increase Intraocular Pressure?
Not a classical contraindication
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.
Hi, I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Oxycodone has been implicated to cause increase in intraocular pressure in some people but is usually considered safe if the glaucoma is not severe.
So, in clinical practice considering Oxycodone as a safe alternative for pain killers, doctors use it in spite of history of glaucoma and this should be kept under consideration that if any symptoms of glaucoma any visual issues aggravate, it should be immediately discontinued.
However, in people suffering from Acute severe glaucoma, i personally prefer to avoid Oxycodone.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you still have any other query, you may please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
