Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Thank you for coming to HealthCareMagic.
When it comes to the residual disability after an injury there are several factors that we must take into account. I will list them here in order of most important to least important
1) Age: The older one is, the less capable their brain is of healing from an injury, eventually the brain stops trying to heal when the person crosses age 70.
2) Extent of the stroke. The larger the area, the worse the outcome (of course). But also which part of the brain that gets affected is important. The closer and closer the stroke gets to the brainstem, the worse the outcome is
3) Diabetes: A patient with Diabetes is at a worsening disadvantage in diabetes as the blood vessels needed to feed the injured cells after a stroke do not grow well in diabetics.
4) Hypertension: Makes things very difficult to heal up
5) Physical therapy.
Now when it comes to a patient being able to walk after a stroke. The therapist must work on stregntehning the muscles in the core and the thoghs while helping with coordination of the leg. The side that is paralyzed will have become thinner due to the muscles breaking down, those legs have to equalize before she can walk.
She has to have good sensation in her feet and good balance as well. So I don't have any way of telling you an exact date. But I have given you the tools from which you can try and estimate based on what you see.
Feel free to follow-up. I hope this helps.
