Does Strep Throat Cause Fever?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: My 2 yr old tested positive for strep throat 10 days ago. 7 days after testing positive she ran 101° fever and today her fever was 102°. Could her fever be related to the strep throat? She was given an antibiotic shot same day as diagnosis. The only other symptoms she is having is a bad cough, stuffy nose and I noticed a spot on the back of her throat.

Brief Answer:
You need not worry. Episode of fever related.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone thorugh the attached image. The Strep throat can be indeed related to the fever as well as the cough and the other mentioned conditons. Irrespective of the use of antibiotics, such a condition generally takes 5-10 days to resolve.

Please be patient. Complete the full course of antibiotics. Give paracetamol to bring down the temperature. Tepid sponging will also help.
