Does Stuffy Nose With Mucus Indicate Bronchitis?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Jan 2015
Question: Every morning for the last 3 months or more, I wake up with a stuffy nose with mucus. I am also coughing up mucus whenever I do my spin class. Could this be bronchitis or allergies? I've never had allergies before but I thought maybe I could now.

Brief Answer:
Mucus examination will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms are due to allergic rhinitis. But I would suggest that you should get culture and sensitivity test done of the nasal mucus and sputum to know if any infection is present.

An antihistamine like Fexofenadine 120 mg once a day will help in controlling your symptoms.
A clinical examination by an ENT specialist will further help.

I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.

Regards. Thanks.
