Brief Answer:
Yes , it can be due to
bupropion.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to hcm!
Both bupropion and escitalopram are good drugs and also used to treat
anxiety apart from
depression.
You said that there is an increase in anxiety from past few days, but it is not clear if---
1. the anxiety increased after increasing escitalopram from 10 to 20mg (17th March) or
2. after adding bupropion 150mg on 30th March Or
It is possible that the new molecule did not suit you we'll enough (some times patient put on bupropion ,
fluoxetine display increase in anxiety symptoms). In such cases, it is better to discontinue bupropion and start a new drug : venalafaxine or
paroxetine.
S, if you can correlate the increase in anxiety with starting of bupropion, then it is likely that this is the causative agent and should be stopped a
together.
Please Donot panic or stress yourself, it does happens sometimes in clinical practice : that a molecule may produce anxiety inspite of reducing it..but the situation is completely manageable and health can be restored.
For now, you can take
etizolam 0.5mg in morning and in after noon to counter anxiety. this will not give sedation.
For sleep at night you may take
clonazepam 0.5-1mg.
Hope the reply is useful for you
