Does Taking Uloric Cause Numbness In Feet?

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Mar 2015
Question: I have been taking Uloric for about one year (every other day). Six months ago, I developed peripheral neuropathy in my toe joints and pads of my feet (the right foot is more severe). I am not taking any other medications and do not have any other symptoms. My blood tests are normal. Could the Uloric be the cause of the numbness in my feet?

Brief Answer:
Not due to Uloric.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Uloric is not likely to cause numbness of the feet.
Many causes of such sensations in the toes are there. These include injury to the back or spinal cord, Lack of blood supply to the legs as a result of plaque formation in the blood vessels, diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis and underactive thyroid. Abnormal levels of calcium, potassium, or sodium in your body and a lack of vitamin B12 can also cause numbness.

Firstly, I’ll request you to get your blood sugar/HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) tested to rule out Diabetes mellitus. Also get your thyroid hormones levels evaluated. You can take some vit B12 for some days and see if the symptoms improve.

I hope this answers your query.
