Does The Presence Of Fluid Around Uterus Cause Burning Sensation In Vulva?
Question: Hi, I'm a 30 yr old woman, was just discharged from my local ER regarding vaginal and pelvic pain. Urinalysis is negative. Ultrasound was performed and fluid around uterus was detected. Going for internal ultrasound tomorrow but was sent home not really getting my issue regarding vulva burning sensation. Little to no discharge. Is this burning sensation relevant to the fluid around uterus? What could I do to ease the burning sensation? Pressure felt like need to urinate but not pain when I do. Please clarify this.
Thank you
Thank you
Brief Answer:
suggests pelvic inflammatory disease(PID).
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to healthcare magic.I understand your concern.
In my opinion the fluid around the uterus along with pelvic pain might suggest pelvic inflammatory disease(PID).
But PID is associated with other features like infective vaginal discharge, fever and urinary symptoms and menstrual irregularities sometimes.
I would like to know:-
1)If you are suffering from any of the above symptoms?
2)Are you sexually active ?
3)Any pain during intercourse?
4)How are your menstrual cycles?
5)Did ultrasound reveal any renal stones?
Kindly provide me the information before going to discussion.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Hi thank you for replying so quickly. I have none of the mentioned symptoms. Yes I am sexually active. No I do not have pain during intercourse. My last relation was a few days ago and since then the pain started mildly. My cycles vary from 28-35 days and are sometimes light and sometimes heavy or both. Ultrasound only revealed fluid around uterus. Dr simply said that it shouldn't be there. Going for internal ultrasound tomorrow. I have very minimal discharge only once in a while. A very very faint hint a slight brown colour. No odour. No itch.
Thank you again!
My partner does not have any other partners. And my previous relations I used a condom. I have had an STI before it feels nothing like it. Just an ongoing burning sensation.

Brief Answer:
burning sensation is a different entity
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for the information.I understand your concern.
In my opinion you dont have any typical symptoms suggestive of pelvic inflammatory disease(PID) or any infective etiology.
Usually fluid collection is seen in the back of uterus called pouch of Douglas(POD) in cases of PID .
Any fluid collection in abdomen might collect around the uterus but here you might have other extrapelvic symptoms.
As you have no symptoms you might not need to worry.
However as you are going to have internal ultrasound tomorrow it might clarify the things.
Burning sensation of vulva might not be related to fluid around the uterus. But the infection if any might cause both things.
It might be due to some nerve related or allergy or infection.
You might need a culture and sensitive test of swab taken from vagina to rule out any infection. So discuss regarding that with your doctor.
Burning sensation might decrease with following things so you can try like:-
1)Wear loose cotton inners.
2)Avoid tight inners and tight jeans.
3)Avoid perfumed deos abd soaps in that area and wash with mild soap or water.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.

I was told it could be a ruptured cyst. What can you tell me about that? Symptoms and how long i should expect them for and if there is anything to be concerned with.
Thank you again
Thank you again
Brief Answer:
Simple cyst might need follow up
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,I got your query.I understand your concern.
In my opinion ruptured complex ovarian cyst might be a emergency condition where in there will be severe pain abdomen, fever, vomitings
etc.
Any ruptured small clear or simple cyst might cause similar picture like accumulation of fluid around or back of uterus.
These small clear cyst might cause dull ache or pelvic discomfort.Simple cyst upto 5 cm might need just follow up and require no treatment and resolve spontaneously.
As you are stable but for mild discomfort it might be a simple cyst.Nothing to worry.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Feel free to discuss furthur.
