Does The Use Of Condoms Cause Warts On Penis Tip?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: If you wear a condom during sex can warts appear on the tip of your penis that is covered by the condom? I had sex 24 weeks ago wearing a condom. Am terrified of getting warts. I examine my penis non stop looking for warts. I have what looks like a very very small bump or mark on tip of my penis. I run a lot and it may just be from rubbing against my under wear. Again I had a condom on the whole time so the head was always covered. Thanks

I am Infectious diseases Specialist Dr. Sheetal Verma answering to your query.

Genital warts are caused by Human Papilloma Viruses by unprotected sexual intercourse. Was your sexual partner having warts?

Lesions usually are greyish heaped up cauliflower like in appearance. Your lesion does not appear to look like warts which can be treated by cryotherapy, electocautery, topical agents, surgery, etc.
But if the partner has HPV infection then it can appear on any part of genital area including the part covered with condom if partner has infection in scrotum, perineum, root of penis.

If your partner was not having disease and you used protective intercourse you need not worry. Your lesion could be due to possible friction during intercourse.

There is no need to be anxious as warts eventually disappear on its own.

Take care.
