Does Tylenol Usage Have Severe Effects On Liver?

default
Posted on Sat, 17 May 2014
Question: My hands were broken in a car accident three years ago, now they are arthritic and painful and weak.
I had the usual hand therapy, but it seems to be getting worse. Especially in the cold weather. I take three tylenol before bedtime but that is all. Will this affect my liver overall?

Brief Answer:
Yes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your query.

One thing you should know that, oral dose of Tylenol for adults is 325 to 650 mg every 4 to 6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 4 grams.

If you take total dose more than 4 grams it will definitely affects your liver.

I advise you to get x-ray of both wrist done in AP, lateral and oblique view done and send me the report.

I will grade the arthritic changes in wrist joints and advise you further medication eg aceclofenac, tramadol etc in tablet forms.

You should also apply hot packs for 30 mins in morning and evening.

I hope you have got your answer.
