Does Unprotected Sex Without Ejaculation Lead To Pregnancy?

Question: My girl friend had a surgical abortion 5 weeks ago. 10 days after the procedure, she had her period(?) (normal and for 5 days). We have had unprotected sex (very limited) since then (but no ejaculation) and now 3 days ago she had a light pink spotting followed by increased brown discharge (everyday for 3 days). She is expecting her period in 2-4 days. She had only spotting prior to her first pregnancy (i.e. no significant discharge) and does not normally have spotting prior to her periods. An early sign of pregnancy (again?) or possibly discharge related to the abortion 5 weeks ago?

1) Unprotected sex WITH or WITHOUT ejaculation has quite HIGH RISK to be pregnant again and we need to rule out early miscarriage (according to clinical presentation) in this context.

I suggest her to undergo one blood test for beta-hCG and Trans Vaginal Ultrasound scan (TVS scan) to rule out possible miscarriage.
