Does Usage Of Clindoxyl And Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion Help In Curing Severe Acne?

Question: Hi Doctor,

This is in continuation of the below acne problem.
My wife is still having the acnes on her face, last week it was little better but since last two days, new acnes started coming up on face again. Also, there are a lot of red marks on her face now.

So Could you please advise the medication she can take, whether she has to continue using the earlier ointment & lotion i.e clindoxycil & Cetaphil cleansing lotion

I have reviewed the attached photographs.
Yes you need to continue with the cleansing lotion as well as benzoyl peroxide gel. Acne is a chronic disease and takes time to resolve. Continue with the same treatment for another 2 weeks. In my view she also needs oral antibiotics like capsule doxycycline 100 mg one capsule daily at bedtime.
It is common to have acne after pregnancy because of hormonal changes but don't worry it will get resolved.
Besides this keep face dry, avoid applying oily creams and moisturisers, avoid oiling of scalp, use cosmetics labelled as noncomedogenic and reduce the intake of sugary foods.

I have reviewed the attached photographs
I can appreciate red papules along with few pustules.

I would recommend her to continue with the same cleansing lotion and benzoyl peroxide gel.

Besides this in such cases I also put my patients on oral antibiotics. I normally prescribe them tablet Azithromycin 500 mg 1 tablet daily before dinner or lunch for 3 consecutive days in a week for atleast 6-8 weeks.

For red marks I suggest them to apply cream containing kojic acid twice daily on the marks for 6-8 weeks.
