Does Usage Of Lotemax Help In Treating Dry Eyes

Question: I am 69 yrs old. No contact lens. I have been having dry eyes. I went to my eye doc and he did an exhaustive exam. He said i had dry eyes (saw "sudsing" on the scan ) and prescribed Lotemax and Restasis. I read the insert literarure on Restasis and it says" Restasis did not increase tear production in patients using anti inflammatory eye drops." Is Lotemax considered an " anti flammatory eye drops?" Do you see any issue of taking it with Restasis??

Lotemax is a steroid and it is a very strong anti infllammatory. Even otherwise it's use should be always with caution. I would be keen to use Restasis only for a week and if you do not respond, then lotemax to be used for a short period if necessary.

Steroids are to be avoided for long term use due to its complications. They can be useful for short term.I would prefer one drug at a time

Thanks again for getting back to me.Restasis,an antimetabolite,can along with steroid given a chance for 5 to 7 days.If result is not excellent, then switch over to lubricant eye drops.
