Can Depo Povera Shots Cause Eye Infections?

Hi, I received the depo povera shot 3 months ago. Since then I have had three eye infections. (Burning, severe sensitivity to light, excessive tearing of which the only relief was a strong bacterial drop. also I wear contacts.) could they be related?

Hi,

Depo Provera injections don't usually cause eye infections. In your case, wearing contact lenses is the likely risk factor for the 3 eye infections that you had recently. Contact lenses increase risk of getting eye infections. That said, I highly recommend that you book an eye check with an optician for a detailed eye assessment to rule out the possibility of corneal ulceration. Corneal ulceration can cause similar symptoms to the ones you reported.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
