Does Usage Of Viaderm KC Help In Treating Balanitis?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Aug 2016
Question: I used viaderm kc twice a day for 1.5 weeks on my penis for balantis. Im worried about atrophy of the penile skin and glans from the Triamcinolone Acetonide. Is there a risk after this duration of use or am i needlessly worried?

If there was atrophy will the skin regenerate? If so how long would it take the skin to regenerate?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Balanitis is correctly treated with viaderm kc.
If not circumcized, discuss with your urologist to get circumcized as it will lower the chances of future relapse.

It is true that viaderm kc contains triamcinolone, but in low doses. So it won't affect your genitalia during this two weeks of treatment.

However, if you notice anything unusual on your genitalia should report to the doctor who prescribed for changing therapy.

Try not to worry unnecessarily and focus on following your doctor advice rigorously.

If atrophy would occur, it can be reversed once stop taking viaderm and not applying any steroid cream locally.

Hope it answered your questions.

Thank you. The balantis had not fully cleared. Would it be safe to switch to a hydrocortisone 1%?
