Endometriosis, Ovarian Cyst Removal, Depression, Nausea, Shivers, Night Sweats, Abdominal Pain, Prolonged Period. Help?
Question: Hi, I am 39 years old and had two surgeries for endometriosis in 2010. I also had surgery for ovarian cyst removal. I had a severe case of endometriosis. I do not have children. My problem is I went on the pill in March 2010 but had to stop taking the medication due to depression, nausea, shivers and night sweats along with other systems. Since April I got my period to which todate has not stopped. Why is the bleeding constant, can it be stopped and what can I do to fix it? I now suffer also headaches, night sweats and pains in my right side and lower back. Im worn out with this,please help.

I did have a ultrasound in March 2011 which showed everything was ok.
Bleeding is heavy someday with dark thick blood and other days is bright red light bleeding
I get night sweats (drenched) most nights when i go to bed. Dont sleep very well because of it.
Menopause - my mum got her menopause when she was in her lat 50's.
I always have night sweats with my period, but constant headache and pains in my side and lower back is extra. Sometimes i also get shivers.

If the ultrasound is normal then there is no obvious uterine pathology to cause this. But I would suggest getting another ultrasound to rule out endometrial hyperplasia. Since you started bleeding from april and the USG was done in march.
Next I would like to rule out thyroid dysfunction, hormone imbalance, so some blood tests would be on order.
Thirdly, if the blood tests are normal, then you may be needing a D&C so that the endometrial tissue can be examined.
You also need a pap smear too but after the bleeding is controlled so that the sample is not contaminated.
The pain is probably due to the endometriosis. The heavy bleeding could also be due to that if other causes are ruled out since you had surgery for that.
Medication can help with the pain and to control the bleeding. You need to see your doctor and improvise a step by step plan to treat this.
