What Is The Cause Of Dry And Itchy Skin When Moisturized?

I have developed extremely dry, itchy skin this winter. Despite constantly moisturizing, It has caused me to scratch myself nearly raw. I have changed bodywash, laundry detergent. I use no colognes or body sprays. I have no pets, no history of food allergies. I am treating with Benadryl lotion and Cortisone ointment and it has helped

Hi,

You seem to have xerosis.. There may be some cause. You consult dermatologist. He might Thouroughly examine you and investigations might be suggested to find out the cause...like anaemia,thyroid dysfunction,DM,HIV, renal diseases.....etc. unreal and lactic acid containing cream may be applied twice a day. Cause may be treated. Antihistaminics like levocetirizine may be taken. Vitamin A and E may be taken for long time. If needed, short course of steroid in tappering dose may be taken. Apply olive oil during bath. Avoid soap in bathing. You may feel better..
