For How Long Is Rabipur Injection Effective?

Question: Hi Doctor,

I had a small prick from my two month old puppy, so doctor suggested me to take 5 rabipur dose injection in the course of one month,I have already taken 4 dose as per schedule and last one is due on 30th November,But yesterday again i got a small prick from my puppy while taking it out, so i believe I dont need to take any other precautions...Please let me know...also dog is vaccinated

There is no need to any further injections , just finish off your previous course.

In fact there was no need for the initial Vaccination itself but anyhow complete the course .

Thanks a lot for your advise, also just want to know 2 things1.can i know what is the duration of immunity of these 5 dose and 2.why these 5 injections been prescribed to be taken in duration of 1 month.

If you get bitten after completing the course then you need to get re vaccinated but that will be a 2 shot vaccine .

It has been found that the efficiency of the rabies vaccine is maximum if given in a duration of 1 month. Many combinations were tried but this regime was found most effective.
