Got Test For SGOT, Albumin And Amorphous. What Does It Indicate?
Question: I AM 57 FEMALE .MY TODAY GENERAL HEALTH TEST ARE HIGHLIGHTED SGOT 48 ,ALBUNIN 1+ AND AMORPHOUS. WHAT DOES TEST INDICATES.

SGOT is part of the liver enzyme profile. It is also known as AST. It is one of the tests used to assess the liver though it can be found in other parts of the body.
Different labs have different normal range but in general the range is from 5 to 40 u/l. Your lab may have quoted slightly different values.
Your value is slightly above the norm- this increase is small and not likely to signify major disease. It is possible that it may be due to (1) fatty liver- the build up of fat in the liver is very common and now accounts for a large portion of liver disease. This build up of fat can result in an increase in enzymes
(2) alcohol- the use of alcohol can also result in an increase in liver enzymes
(3)infection- this is less likely because the increase would be significant
Albumin 1 plus- albumin is a type of protein . This result means that the test detected a small amount of protein/albumin.
Amorphous - these are particles lacking a distinct structure. They are not usually significant, they are usually precipitates or composed of salts and do not usually any disease condition unless otherwise stated.
