Hair Loss, HLA B27 Genotype. Any Relation Between These?

Question: Is there a connection between hair loss and hlab27?
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
HLA B27 is not a disease. Its a genotype found in some people that may be raised in certain types of joint diseases. Its a test that may be positive is such diseases. Most of these diseases are autoimmune in character and yes, apart from other signs and symptoms, hair loss may be a sign also. However, only hair loss should be be associated with this positive marker.Other inflammatory signs and symptoms are also present.
Hope I have answered your query. Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.

what can you do about the hair loss?
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Well, the hair loss will be only a part of the symptoms. The underlying disease has to be treated. If you have been diagnosed with a joint condition or an autoimmune disease, then that's what needs to be treated. If the hair loss is a part of the symptoms it should reduce. At the same time, other causes of alopecia should be ruled out also.Just because you may be genotypically positive doesnt mean that you will have hair loss due that reason only.Get your thyroid levels tested. The other causes of hair loss may be thyroid dysfunction, stress, infection etc.
There is no permanent natural treatment of hair loss.Nowadays bonding and transplant are done in severe cases.
Hope this helps.
