Have Blocked Ears And Constant Respiratory Infections. Woke Up With Headache And Blood Clots In Nose. Have Mycoplasma. What Can Be Done?
Earlier this year the doctor said I had double ear infections, tonsillitis and a respiratory infection and I went on several rounds of antibiotics. Just recently another doctor said I just have a virus and it will "go away".
I do have a poor immune system from having had mycoplasma several years ago.
The fatigue is so overwhelming I can barely wake in the morning... and I have always been a morning person. I also feel very dizzy often - Its like im always drunk.
Apparently I also have "restricted breathing that presents as asthma)
I dont know what to do because constant visits to the doctor and medications are getting too expensive.... please help
I understand it could be very frustrating visiting doctors many times and still continuing to feel sick. It is very important to have a global view of your health problem. A central issue here is one of recurrent infections within the ear - nose - throat sphere. It becomes critical to evaluate and examine keenly any predisposing factors.
- A careful examination of the throat to sure the tonsils are not enlarged. In case they are, surgical removal might reduce the frequency of these infections
- The nostrils need a careful examination. Nasal polyps could predispose to frequent infections and nasal congestion.
- A careful examination of the paranasal sinuses is imperative. I strongly suggest that specific X rays to evaluate the vacuity of the sinuses be done. Accumulation of pus in these sinuses could explain the pain and fatigue. If identified, the pus could be drained and sent for laboratory analysis, culture and sensitivity testing to determine the specific antibiotic that could aid in this regard.
An important consideration not to be forgotten is that these structures are so close interrelated, that an infection poorly treated in one of the areas could easily spread to nearby structures like the ears, brain and mastoid bone, causing more severe infections.
past history of allergies and asthma could be carefully examined. Immunoglobuli E levels (IgE), raised Eosinophil counts in a complete blood count could be important. A systemic disease could, Vasculitis of small blood vessels should also be considered, This is called Churg - Straus disease should be carefully screened for.
Predisposing causes for decreased immunity like diabetes, HIV - AIDS must be carefully considered.
I suggest a careful review by an ENT specialist. Collaboration with an internist depending on his clinical findings could go a long way in making long lasting treatment schemes. thanks and hope this helps as I wish you the best of health. Feel free to ask any specific questions if need be. I would be glad contributing and kind regards. Wishing you good health.
