Have Facial Swelling, No Redness Or Itching. What Could This Be?

Question: I have a round area of facial swelling from the center of my cheekbone to the side of my nose on each side of my face without redness or itching. It is enough that it actually makes it look like my eyes are swollen, but it is easily defineable when felling on either side of my nose. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Facial swelling is usually associated with renal disorders.
I would like to know the following additional things.
1. When is the swelling maximum? Is it maximum in morning when you get up and slowly decreases as the day progresses ?
2. Do you feel any redness on exposure to sunlight ?
3. Do you have any problem in urination, Excess or less ?
kindly answer the above questions so I can help you better.
Thank you

The swelling seems to stay the same.
I haven't been in the sun to know if redness occurs.
Haven't noticed change in amount of urine output.
Did recently have a series of 3 epidural injections due to problem with disc L5-S1.

Hello,
Thanks for the follow up,
I dont think it is associated with epidural injection.
Epidural injection is associated with headache but facial swelling is usually not seen.
I would still advice you to go for a renal function test.
At least it can be assessed that kidneys are functioning normal.
Regarding treatment, you can use normal saline compress thrice a day for 7 days.
This will decrease the swelling.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
