Have Fever, Joint Pain And Swelling. Are These Symptoms Of Arthritis?
Question: My wife, aged 57 years for the past one month having joint pains, swelling and feverish and it appears to be a case arthertis. Her current ESR level is 90 (should be <12) and Quantification of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is 2.7 (normal <1.0). Kindly give suitable advice with medicine available in India.
Hello,
This may be the start of arthritis,
but her symptoms as you said have been present only for a month. So the best thing to do would be to test her for arthritis in the form of rheumatoid factor, Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) and antinuclear antibodies (ANAs).
These tests can easily be done under the guidance of a Rheumatologist.
In the mean time she should be on like Naproxen or Etoricoxib to give her relief from pain and swelling.
Hope I answered your query.
Please let m,e know if there are any other concerns.
