Have Painful Lump On Anus. No Puss, No Blood In The Stool, No Weight Loss. Anal Cancer?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 May 2013
Question: My girl friend started having pain inside her anus last year (Jan 2012) pain at about 3, now the pain has gone to about a 9 all the time. She has not bleeding from the anus, no puss, no blood in the stool, no weight loss. She has never done anal.
She has a lump that has grown in a year and the pain is bad, she has gone to the doctor and she has sent her to a specialist.
Oh, she is never tired either.
Does this sound more like a Fibrous lump or anal cancer.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This definitely does not sound like a colon cancer. Anal pain usually does not appear with a cancer as cancer does not cause pain at all. With colon cancer, the pain usually is caused by bowels obstruction (and it is and abdominal pain, not a anal pain).
Pain in the anus (especially strong pain) is usually caused by anal fissure. This condition is caused by a tear of rectum due to hard stool and constipation. And this wound is something that gives a lot of pain, especially when passing the stool.
Other possible reason of anal pain are hemorrhoids, however the pain is not so strong and appears from time to time (usually when the thrombus in the varicose appears).
The lump can be present with fissure and with hemorhoids.

I suggest your girlfriend to follow this steps:
- increase fiber XXXXXXX products, mineral water intake so the stool will be soft (stool softeners might be helpful)
- avoid pushing hard on stool
- wash her rectum after every stool
- have sitz baths with Quercus Cortex twice a day
- use prescription free suppositories for hemorrhoids
- get Nitroglycerin gel and Xylocaine gel from your doctor

Such treatment should help in a week or so. If not, that general surgeon consult and probable surgical removal will be necessary. Also colonoscopy is advisable.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Her Doctor who check it a year ago gave her a cream which didnt really do anything.
She went back to the same doctor and said its not hemorrhoids and really dosent know what it is.
The facts, pain is worse and its constant, it throbs and the lump is getting bigger, you can feel it from the outer part of the skin.
She does have IBS.
She said the pain is worse just before, during and just after her period.

Well, cancer caused lump should be hard with uneven surface. Any other lump is soft and has smooth surface. Doctor, without rectoscopy or colonoscopy is unable to tell what kind of lump it is. So saying that this is not a hemorrhoid is not correct as long as you wont see it with rectoscopy.

The lump I am talking about is called "sentinel pile" and is very very characteristic for anal fissure. Can be misdiagnosed as a hemorrhoid.
As uterine is in close neighborhood to the rectum, its diseases like inflammation or tumor (usually benign) can cause such pain as well, but no reason for uterine to cause a lump in the rectum.
General surgeon visit should be helpful if you still have doubts about it.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
