Hello,
You have history of
ulcerative colitis and now you are experiencing, pain and
rectal bleeding. To reduce it take oral pain relievers (Acetaminophen or Combiflam), one SOS when required. Soak in Sitz bath at least two times a day, apply creams or pads containing lidocaine (numbing agent) and
hydrocortisone for relieve. (toplap gel, himcolin ointment, etc). To reduce bleeding stop heavy exercises, sitting for long periods, do not strain in the toilet, take whole grains, veggies and fruits.
You are suggested to get clinically examined for colon cancer and
colorectal cancer may also manifest such symptoms. Get colon
cancer screening testing (gFOBT and FIT) done to be on the safer side. You should also get stool tests, blood tests, X-ray, CT, MRI done. Get treated at the earliest. If cancer is detected you will need chemotherapy, radiation or surgery depending upon the stage of the cancer. Cancer detected at the early stage can be cured.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
