Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
Your child seems having upper respiratory tract infection.
Continue the antibiotic as advised.
You can give Imol 6ml 6th hourly depending on the presence of fever. If there is high grade fever, you can do tepid sponging with lukewarm water.
For cold, you can give oral drops containing chlorpheniramine maleate like Maxtra oral drops.
The dose of Maxtra drops is 0.5 ml thrice daily in a 1.6 years old child.
As it is a prescribed drug, you should consult the pediatrician before giving to the child.
For nose block, you can use Nasoclear nasal drops or nasal spray. Put one or two drops into each nostril , especially before feeding and sleeping.
And continue the rest of medication as advised by your pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know.

Thank you for getting back.
Most of the medication for cold will contain chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine.
You can continue Maxtra 3 to 5 days in prescribed dosage.
Bricanyl is given to decrease the cough.
Imol contains paracetamol and usually it can be given even in empty stomach as paracetamol is not associated with gastric irritation.
So during midnight, if there is fever you can give Imol.
If fever is not decreasing, consult the pediatrician for follow up.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know.

Thank you for getting back and your kind appreciation.
Kids usually get frequently cold and cough because of exposure viruses and allergens in the environment.
These type of cold occurs mostly due to cold climate, viruses, and some times allergens.
Children get frequent upper respiratory tract infections till the age of 6 years due to frequent exposure to pathogens and lack of resistance to various common pathogens.
After 6 years, they will get immunity to most of these organisms and the frequency of cold and cough decreases thereafter.
My suggestions to decrease the frequency of cold attacks in your child:
1.Avoiding the exposure of the child to cold air, cold weather, and to people with
cold and cough.
2.Avoiding the exposure of the child to crowds, dust, smoke, sprays and fumes,
and paints.
3.Mainataing hand hygiene of all family members by frequent hand wash.
4.Avoiding known and observed allergens and allergic food.
5.Giving all recommended vaccines as per the schedule.
6.Supplementing the child with vitamin C and zinc which will improve his
immunity and fight against frequent colds.
Hope my suggestions will help him to decrease the frequent episodes.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know.

Thank you for getting back.
Nasoclear nasal spray or nasal drops contains normal saline and it will help to make thick mucus into thin fluid and give relief from nose block.
This spray doesn't decrease the running nose.
You can give oral Maxtra syrup or drops 8th hourly in prescribed dose for symptomatic relief from cold and running nose.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know.
Regards.
