Hi XXXXXXX,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.Ratnakar Kini, Gastroenterologist and I am pleased to answer your query.
Burning sensation in the upper abdomen could be due to increased acidity. It could be gastritis or an ulcer.
An upper gastrointestinal endoscopy may be done for evaluation.
Medications like esomeprazole may be taken for relief.
I hope that answers your question.

Thank you doctor for the prompt response.
Will I need a prescription to get the endoscopy test done?
Also, are there any food items I should avoid to prevent this problem in future?
Thanks

Hi ,
Yes, you need to consult a gastroenterologist who will be doing the endoscopy.
You need to avoid spicy food, oily food, citrus, tomatos and coffee.
