Question: Hi, I have had some pain and a lot of pressure in the back of my neck up through the back of my head. I also have pain behind my ears. I have been feeling more and more dizzy. My equilibrium is off. IPlease help!
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I would like to know some more details on your condition so that I advice you specifically.
Since when do you have this problem ?
Do you have any problem with the vision ?
Is the dizziness more like vertigo - feeling of surroundings moving.
Are you on any long term medication ?
Do you have any history of ear infection in past ?
Waiting for your reply.

Hello,
I have been getting head pain in the back of my head for about 2 months now. However, in the last 3 to 4 days is when the intense pressure began. The pressure is what makes me feel dizzy. The room does not feel like its spinning. It is just that my head/neck feels so heavy from the pressure I have to sit down. I have tender spots in the back of my head on the left and right side. I also am tender on the bone behind my ears. My jaw doesn't necessarily hurt but it does feel tired. Is there any way to relieve this pressure? I noticed yesterday that my equillibrium seemed effected. I was bending over washing my face in the sink (eyes closed) and kind of lost my balance. When I stood on one foot with my eyes closed, I was swaying slightly.
I do not have problems with vision or ear infections. I am not taking any long term medication. I did have an mri of the brain and neck two years ago. Results were normal. When I had that test done, it was because I got a lot of headaches. This seems different though. It is more like pain/pressure on my bones around my skull. It doesn't necessarily feel like my normal headaches but pain does accompany the pressure feeling at times.
It is all making me very anxious. I hope this helps clarify. Thanks!

Hi,
Thanks for the information.
The symptoms appear to be due to neurological problem rather than any musculoskeletal involvement.Spondylosis of the neck bones also can present this way by compressing the nerves supplying the immediately surrounding area.I would ask you to get an MRI again. MRI you got done was long ago, as you mention your problems are since 2 months.
The loss of balance could be due to problem in the neural connections of the vestibular apparatus in the inner ear.I suggest you to once ate the need consult a Neurologist who can examine and evaluate the need for an MRI.
Meanwhile do apply DICLOFENAC gel over the affected area. The Gel will surely reduce the pain if it is due to skeletal involvement, this way we could be sure of what could be causing the pain.
Hope I answered your query.
Please come up with follow ups, if any.
Wish you good health.
