Having Swelling Near Groin Area On Thigh And Some Discolouration On Skin. Any Treatment?
Question: Male with swelling about i inch down from groin in soft part of thigh. Not near testicles. Some discolouration on skin
Hi,
thanks for writing in.
There are quite a few possibilities.
1. If it expands on coughing or straining then it is a hernia.
2. If it is bluish in color and can easily be compressed then there is a high likelihood of a saphena varix. ( a swelling related to the venous system)
3. If it is soft and lobulated then it can be a lipoma ( a fatty tumor)
4. If there was history of trauma or injury then it could be a hematoma (blood clot).
The best way to arrive at a diagnosis would be a clinincal evaluation followed if required by ultrasound or FNAC as guided by the findings of clinical examination.
I hope this answers your querry.
