Having Yellow Stool, Getting Pain And Burning Sensation In Lower Abdomen. What's Wrong?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Dec 2012
Question: I am reguritating bile and my stools are yellowish. Earlier this week I had moderate pain and a burning feeling in my lower abdomen. What is wrong? Of couse, I have narrowed it down to liver or pancreatic cancer. Say it isn't so.

Hello, XXXXXXX,
Any one that has severe vomiting can bring up bile.
Usually, bile is sent from the gallbladder into the
intestine during digestive process. If the channel
is blocked by gallstone, then there is excess build up
of bile and you can have yellow jaundice.Stool may
actually clay colored not yellow.Gallbladder pain
typically is located on the right upper abdomen
under the rib cage.Your pain is located in the lower
abdomen.Diverticulitis which is an inflammation of
one or more pockets from the wall of the colon.
Other symptoms include fever, chills,diarrhea,nausea
and vomiting.
Pancreas associated problems cause more mid abdominal
pain, may radiate to the back.Unexplained weight loss,
change in stool consistency, more foamy or floating type
due to undigested fat.
If your pain persists or gets worse, you may need CT-Scan
of the abdomen.
I wish you good health.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. My symptoms do, actually fit better with your diverticulitis diagnosis. I would be relieved to know it were diverticulitis, but would I have had symptoms prior to this? This has been so uncomfortable for a week that it scared me. I had my gallbladder removed about 30 years ago due to one large gallstone, so I am concerned that something involving bile production is involved. Would this be the liver? ( I am not jaundiced) (I am not a hypochondriac! Just scared because I am rarely ill) Thank you!

Hello, XXXXXXX,
If you have had your gallbladder removed then you don't
hve to worry about stones. Lot of times , we see diverticulosis
in people who have had gallbladder problems.
Diverticulosis is the condition of having the pockets but without
inflammation. You could have had this for a number of years
and not have any symptoms. Some people will have rather vague
symtoms such as abdominal discomfort, may be gas bloat, some
diarrhea or constipation. The symtoms get worse when the pockets
get infected and this can happen any time.
If you have had recent blood tests that included liver tests, and you
don't have jaundice, I would not worry about the liver.
Good luck.
