Question: Hi

My mother went through endoscopy on March 2020 and below are her findings

1. Normal upper and lower oesophagus
2. O.G junction : Lax XXXXXXX Gd 1 Hiatus
3. Fundus : Normal, Body : Normal , Anthrum : Normal, Pylorus : Normal
4. Duodenum : 1st part Duodenitis, 2nd part normal
She has given tablets T. It... before food for one week on March and along with that Rabekind tablet after food two times a day. After one week Rabekind is the only tablet doctor told to take for her six months twice a day. She was not having pain mostly except at rare occasions she gets mold pain during this time.

Last month doctor reduced to one Rabekind tablet per day and she started having mild pain frequently (two days once)

Please suggest me the next course of action

Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.
Since she has recurrence of symptoms on decreasing the dose and as she is not having obvious risk factors, she has to be tested for H.pylori infection. You can discuss with her doctor about getting this test done.
She can take Rabikind in the morning and Rantac in the evening.
She has to avoid spicy food and coffee.

Dr.R.K.

Hi Doctor Thanks a lot for your response. I have attached additional investigation report, not sure if this is the test you are referring. Also could you please clarify one more thing her doctor told to take Rabekind tablet for a year and if pain doesnt fully reduced doctor told to continue the tablet even after one year. Is it advisable to take this tablet for long period of time? And final question since you have mentioned to avoid coffee hope that include tea too because she is addicted to tea and couldn't stop it completely. Please clarify

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am see only two attachments. One is the endoscopy report and the other one is the prescription.
H pylori test is not done.
Rabekind is a safe medication and can be taken for a longer term. But the best thing to do is to find the underlying cause and treat it. That is why I suggested H.pylori test to see whether that is causing the persistence of symptoms.
Yes, she can take two cups of tea per day.

Dr.R.K.
