Question: Hi doctor,
How accurate is a pcr rna test after 18 days post possible exposure? I tested negative, I had a sore throat from around 15 days PE which lasted about 5 days.....I'm still worried sick

HIV RNA PCR is accurate or conclusive after 11 days of exposure by >99%.
It measures presence of hiv-1 RNA material. Hiv1 is most common and hiv-2 variety is rare.
So you can consider it as negative and allay the fears of HIV.
It is not clear about the mode of exposure

The mode of exposure was a condom break with a woman of unknown status, vaginal insertion only, possibly 45 seconds.......

Then there is no risk almost and you need not worry of HIV as you had almost protected inter course and tests are negative.
The symptoms are simple respiratory infection due to respiratory contact with her or any body else.they are not specific to HIV.
