How Are Kidney Stones Formed?

Diet has some impact to kidney stones creation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Kidney stone creation is caused by a combination of multiple factors.
First of all, the urine flow needs to be impeded. This can be caused by some narrow areas on the urine flow path (ureter narrowing, urethra narrowing), compression on the ureter or even holding urine for a long time (rare urinating).
Secondly the urine concentration due to low fluids intake has also an impact to stones creation.
Another factor of stones creation is urine composition. Increased amount of specific ingredient can cause a stone creation, build of this ingredient. One of such ingredient sources is diet. Unfortunately there is few types of stones. Each type can be caused by different foods intake.
Moreover, diet has an impact to urine pH (acidity). And wrong pH is much stronger factor than eating some types of foods.
So in simple words, having some type of diet and drinking enough mineral water (2-3 liter a day) wont cause kidney stones. Having good diet and not drinking enough of water can result with stones creation.
Other rare factors of kidney stones are parathyroidism, Crohns disease, high dosages of vitamin D intake, high dosages of calcium intake.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Coffee is fine. Too much vitamin D can cause stones indeed.
Detailed Answer:
Coffee is fine. Especially the coffee which is less processed (made from whole grains). It contains a lot of antioxidants.
Vitamin D intake can cause kidney stones. But like I have mentioned before, there must be few factors at once to cause kidney stones.
Just make sure to drink plenty of mineral water and even with vitamin D intake you will be free from stones.
Regards.
