How Can A Lanced Abscess Under The Arm Be Treated?

Question: I have an abscess under my arm. I have gotten treatment. It was lanced on Thursday January 19, packed with gauze, I was given instructions to keep it draining with hot compresses. I woke up today and it was much better. However, it seems to be trying to grow again in the last 2 hours. My question is can the gauze become to saturated with puss and go backwards?
Brief Answer:
Infection is not controlled.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Apart from Incision and Drainage, appropriate antibiotic has to be given.
Once the pus is drained,I send the pus for culture and sensitivity.Antibiotic will be prescribed as per the report. Pending report,I put the patient on Linezolid 600mg twice daily after food and anti inflammatory tablets twice daily after food.
I will not pack.the abscess cavity .I.will just place a sterile gauze over it.It allows the tissues to heal
After cleaning the wound with povidone iodine solution, just place a sterile gauze and apply plaster.
Get appropriate Antibiotic prescription from your doctor .
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you speedy recovery.
