Question: Four days ago, I was eating peanuts and scrapping the bottom to get the crumbs. I got some salt on my lips and my lips started to tingle. Part of my upper lip started to swell a bit. It didn't hurt, but just felt odd. I could not stop playing with my this tongue. I took an antihistamine and the irritation went away. It still sometimes get irritated and then I take a antihistamine and it is fine. I have a habit of wetting it with my tongue and the skin broke. I am using lip balm to keep hydrateded. My lips are chapped from breathing with my mouth open at night when I had stuffed knows from allergies. I am wondering if it a cold sore or something else? Seems to be healing l but slowly.
Brief Answer:
Please upload a picture of the lip with the broken skin.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Your symptoms are suggestive of an allergic reaction and may be an angioneurotic edema.
If the skin broke, it possible that there is a super added infection.
I would be able to give a better opinion if you could upload a picture of your lip where the skin broke.
If there is an infection, you would require an antibiotic locally or systemically depending on the severity of infection.
Do get back to me with your input.

Brief Answer:
Looks infected
Detailed Answer:
Thanks.
It looks infected.
You could apply Bactroban cream and it would be better.
If that does not bring sufficient relief in 3 days or the lesion increases, you would require oral antibiotics which are prescription medicine and you require to get yourself examined by a practitioner.
Best wishes for a quick recovery.
