How Can A Lump On The Lower Spine Be Treated?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Jun 2017
Question: Last week I stayed in bed for almost a full 2 days due to flu like symptoms. When I was recovered from sickness I discovered a lump on my lower spine. I had attributed initial soreness to a type of bed sore from being on my bed for so many hours. Any suggestions or ideas?!? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Can you upload an image for review?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I have reviewed your information fully. To be of most help; providing a personalized and helpful response, it is very necessary that I review an image of this lump that you have reported. This could indeed be a bed sore seen your recent bed bound state for 2days, but difficult to say with certainty without reviewing what it actually looks like.

To upload an image, simply click on the link to upload a file and follow the instructions. If this proves difficult, please send the image by mail to YYYY@YYYY and request that the image should be uploaded to your query.

I do promise to get back to you with more insights and helpful recommendations as soon as the requested information gets here.

I live alone.. and despite several attempts to photograph lump, I'm not really able to get an angle that is clear. any suggestions you might have as to things to look for, and/or things I might try to reduce swelling would be helpful.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Change sleeping posture..Get out of bed more often. Check for skin changes!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and sorry to hear you are unable to provide an image.

Working on the assumption that this is a bedsore, I will recommend the following:

1. Change the sleeping position often. Avoid sleeping on the area that is already affected.
2. Getting out of bed and staying active is a great way to go. Try to be as long as possible out of bed.
3. Eat healthy and include much proteins in your diet. This will allow for faster healing if the tissue is already damage.
4. Monitor this area for pain, changes to skin appearance, blisters, redness, etc. to me for further review.

I hope these help. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
