default
Posted on Mon, 13 Feb 2017
Question: my son is now 6 month old and he is having undecended right testicle. when he was 2months old we had visited doctor for consultation and as per his advice he informed us to wait till my son gets 9-10 months old for operation.

now i came to know that ideal age for this operation is immidiately after complision of 6 month of age.

therefore i am confused whether to wait or to approach some other doctor for surgery.

is there any disadvantages if we wait till complision of 9 month.

Brief Answer:
You can safely wait till 9 months of age.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Surgery (orchiopexy or orchidopexy) is usually done when the baby is 9 to 15 months old, usually before 12 months of age. I do not think that there is a problem if you wait till 9 months of age, rather, I would recommend waiting for these few months. It is safe and surgery is effective and has few risks.
