How Can Blepharitis Be Treated?

Question: I have swelling, dryness, blistering, redness and a leathery feel on the skin around my eyes. Mostly upper eyelids. No creams or ointments have helped. I do have rosacea on my face (mild) but this eye condition cropped up overnight almost a year ago. No one has been able to give me an answer to what it is or how to alleviate it. I have tried eliminating different things to see if it is an allergy. No matter what I do, it is persistent.
Brief Answer:
Blepheritis
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This is blepheritis and by the look of photograph it must be really troublesome.
The basic mode of treatment is controlling the skin problem by eye medication. As the skin ointments are stringer, they are not good to the eye.So we use eye ointments to control skin disease.
You have to apply steroid eye ointments twice a day and you will feel relied in a couple of weeks.
Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Thank you so much for something to go on! This is the first I have heard of Blepheritis. I have seen 4 different physicians! So, in order for me to get the medication I need, I need to see my regular doctor? I figure since it will have steroid, it will need a prescription? And this is something that goes IN the eye and not around the eye? Just trying to clarify - Thank you!
Brief Answer:
Blepharitis
Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.
I am quite sure that steroid eye ointments are not easily available in pharmacies, then you need to get back to the doctor to get a prescription.
Though this is an eye ointment, it has to be applied around the eye and not in the eye. If there is irritation in the eye, we have safer preparations, XXXXXXX lubricant eye drops to relieve the problem. As complications of long term use of steroids in the eye and around the eye are very different.
Surrounding skin has minimal side effects and firstly we have to relieve the suffering.
