Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections. Such infections are frequently associated with an allergic component and the thickened mucus may lead to irritation of the throat, thus causing you to gag and thereby throw up. Claritin D is the right medicine to take. Antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of treatment it usually resolves in 5-7 days although occasionally it may take longer. You would have to be patient.

You need to take steam inhalation. It helps in reducing the congestion. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief.

Please be patient. It may take a few days for the recovery to occur.

Hopefully that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.

Regards
